The Pierre Governor competed in the final day of the 2019 state golf tournament in Yankton on Tuesday as the team took home 12th place, moving up a spot from Monday to Tuesday.
The Governors improved their game by six strokes as a team as Carter Karst shaved off two strokes on day two and Sawyer Sonnenschien improved by an impressive five strokes. Zain Baus and Luke Olson who were not a part of the team score either day also played much better as they took 11 strokes off their scores in a combined effort. Individually, Karst tied for 35th to end the season while Grady Klundt tied for 43rd.
Sioux Falls Roosevelt won the team championship over Sioux Falls O’Gorman and Lincoln by just two strokes. Jack Lundin from Roosevelt won the State Championship individually by two strokes over three different competitors as he was two strokes off the lead heading into day two.
