Pierre Governor Volleyball Sweeps Mitchell for Back to Back Wins

The Pierre Governors traveled to Mitchell on Tuesday night for their final road contest of the season and they were not disappointed as they rolled over the Kernels in straight sets winning 25-15, 25-21 and 25-22.

The Governors are now at 8-11 on the year as the Kernels drop to 4-21. The Govs had no problems in the first set with Mitchell as Josie Stevens led the way in kills from start to finish on the night notching double digits.

Head Coach Kacy Kienholz said this was Stevens best match as a Governor…

In the second set, the Governors led 10-9 before a Deb Thill timeout to rally the Kernels to a 14-10 lead. Kienholz used a timeout to stop the momentum and the Governors grabbed it by scoring five straight points to reclaim the lead and hold on for the second set win. Kienholz talked about what was said in the huddle during the timeout…

Kienholz said this win was an important one for the team’s confidence…

The Governors will have one more match, at home against Huron on Thursday, to finish out the season. You can listen on Today’s KCCR and todayskccr.com with Jon Winkler on the call.
