Pierre Governors Break State Scoring Record, Advance to State Final

The Pierre Governors are headed back to the State Championship Game for the third straight year with a 57-7 win over the Mitchell Kernels on Friday night.

The Governors had one of their toughest first quarters since Week 2 of the season as they only scored 14 points against the Kernels. However, the defense stood strong as the offense was searching for their rhythm. Cade Hinkle finished with two interceptions as Grey Zabel lead the team in sacks going for four in the ball game.

The Governors need 55 points to tie the state record for most points in a season for both 11 man and 9 man football. With the 57 they have broken it and with game to spare in the championship.

Head Coach Steve Steele says there are things to sure up for next Friday but is happy nonetheless…
