Friday night, the Pierre Governors looked to end their six game losing streak and string some wins together heading into the final weeks of the season. However, Sioux Falls Roosevelt had other plans as they shellacked the Governors 79-48 to drop the Govs to 4-11 on the year and have now lost seven in a row. The Governors still sit in 14th place in Class AA.
The Governors found themselves down by 19 at the end of the first half and was outscored 26-6 in the third quarter. The Governors were able to outscore the Rough Riders in mop up time by eight in the fourth quarter. The Rough Riders were led by Tyler Feldkamp and Carson Devericks each scoring 14 points on the night. The Govs were led in scoring by Grey Zabel with 11, the only player in double figures for Pierre.
The Govs will get a rematch with Brookings on Friday, a team that snuck away with a road win way back in mid-December 70-59. The Govs will look for their first win since January 15th when they beat Sturgis in overtime, and their first road win of the season. You can hear the game on Friday with pregame at 6:40 and tipoff at 7:00 on Today’s KCCR and todayskccr.com with Jon Winkler on the call.
