Pierre Governors Football Rolls Through Mitchell into 8-0 Record

As the Mitchell Kernels came out for the pregame warmups the coaching staff of the Pierre Governors noticed the small but elusive running back of Parker Phillips was absent. Phillips had the flu and was unable to play and the near 1000 yard rusher was heavily missed from the Kernels as the Governors throttled Mitchell 75-7 Friday night.

The Governors had three 100 yard rushers as Maguire Raske, Josh Rowe and Garrett Stout all broke the century mark with Raske leading the way with 190 on the night. Regan Bollweg caught two touchdown passes and had five receptions for 65 yards on the night.

The Governor defense again stymied another offense as the Kernels recorded just 55 total yards in the first half which is the amount of points the Govs put up in the first half. Cade Hinkle picked off his third pass of the season and also ran a punt back for a touchdown for 60 yards.

The Governors have broken the school scoring record in a season in just eight games and Head Coach Steve Steele was very impressed with his group…

The offensive line had no problems again and Steele again complimented them on it…

The penalties had been a problem lately for Pierre if there’s anything that has been frustrating Steele but Friday night, there was hardly any flags thrown…

The regular season will conclude on Thursday as the Governors head to Douglas to face the 1-7 Patriots trying to close out a perfect regular season.
