Pierre Governors Look to End Losing Streak against Sturgis

The Pierre Governor boys basketball team will be looking for its second win of the season and end its small three game losing streak as they face the Sturgis Scoopers at home on Tuesday.

The Govs improved from Friday to Saturday against the Rapid City schools as they shot better but ran into an even hotter shooting team in the Central Cobblers putting them to 1-5 on the season. The Scoopers are coming in at 1-6 so far this season with its only win to Lead-Deadwood and have lost its last two to Custer and Belle Fourche. The Scooper offense has struggled so far this year in losses averaging a mid 30’s mark in those six losses. Pierre shared the wealth with three players in double figures in the loss on Saturday with the team looking better as they look to do the same tonight.

Tip off is scheduled for 7:00 tonight at Riggs High School. The Governors will also host Douglas on Thursday in a makeup game from December.
