Pierre Governors Top Kernels on Last Second Shot

The Pierre Governors came into Friday’s contest looking to end the four game losing streak and keep the Mitchell Kernels out of the win column. With 3.2 seconds left in the game, Garret Stout knocked in a lay up to give the Governors a 52-50 lead and the Kernels were unable to get a shot away at the buzzer and the Governors won their third game of the year and dropped the Kernels to 0-8.

Throughout the game, there was hardly any separation between the two teams. In fact, after each of the first three quarters there was only a three point margin, the Governors trailed 12-9 after the first, led 28-25 at halftime and 42-39 after three. Jack Maher and Paul Adam helped carry the Govs throughout the game offensively while they scored 35 of the 52 points for Pierre. Maher had the game high 18 points and Adam finished with 17.

Stout, who scored the game winner, scored just four points in the game but had the biggest two points of the game with the game winning layup.

Up next for the Govs is a home date against the Sturgis Scoopers on Thursday. You can hear that game with pregame beginning around 6:40 and tipoff at 7:00 on Today’s KCCR and todayskccr.com with Jon Winkler on the call.
