Last night, the Pierre Lady Governors traveled to Mitchell looking for that elusive first victory on the season. The contest remained tight through the first half as they Lady Govs trailed by only five 32-27 at halftime. However, a strong third quarter from the Kernels propelled them to a 21 point victory 67-46 over Pierre.
The Kernels outscored the Lady Govs by 13 in the third quarter and swelled the lead to 18 heading into the final frame and the Kernels were just too much for the Lady Govs and Mitchell improves to 5-3 on the year while the Lady Govs fall to 0-8.
Five players scored in double figures for the Kernels lead by Mackenzie Miller with 15 points. The Lady Govs got another strong scoring performance by Emily Mikkelsen and Mack Rath as Mikkelsen finished with 18 and Rath ended the night with 11 points.
