The 11AA All-State football team has officially been announced. The Pierre Govs were the class of the field as they named eight on the team. The team was named by the South Dakota High School Football Coaches Association.
Peyton Zabel earns his second All-State selection. Zabel had a great season for the Govs he threw for over 2,400 yards and 28 touchdowns and also ran for 328 yards and six touchdowns.
Wide receiver Mike Lusk was also named, he was able to earn the Joe Robbi Award in the state championship. Tight end Jack Maher was named as he caught 60 passes for 765 yards and nine touchdowns.
Offensive guard Easton Swartz played in every game for the Govs this season. Defensive end Hudson Rohrbach had 47 tackles and also ran for 636 yards and five touchdowns. Linebacker Gage Gehring he had 91 tackles this season. Defensive back Matt Maxfield had 33 tackles and five interceptions.
Kicker for the Govs Casey Williams missed only two extra points and was 4 of 7 for field goals. Also he hit the game winning 31 yard field goal to win the state championship. Grey Zabel offensive lineman was an honorable mention.
