Pierre Police Kick Off Guns ‘N Hoses Blood Drive With Tug-O-War Win

The 13th Annual Tyler Wilcox Memorial “Guns ‘n Hoses” Blood Drive kicked off Sunday afternoon in Fort Pierre. Local first responders sparred for bragging rights with a game of Tug of War…

The Pierre Police Department took the Tug honor, but the bigger award is yet to come as fire and police team up to collect blood for United Blood Services….

Abbie Keyes with United Blood Services says they provide blood to 83 hospitals in the regional, but the impact is even greater…

Keyes says United Blood Services supplies blood to Las Vegas hospitals. Nearly 80 units of blood from the Dakotas were used on victims of a mass shooting there earlier this year. The Tyler Wilcox Memorial blood drive beings Monday in Fort Pierre at the Fort Pierre Fire Station from Noon to 6 P-M. This year’s goal is 345 units, which would surpass last year’s 317 units and could push the total units collected since the drive began in 2005 to 1700 units.
