Pierre police have been busy this week when it comes to drug arrests. The most recent drug-related arrests happened Wednesday when police responded to a report of suspicious activity at a residence in the 600 Block of West Dakota Avenue. Pierre police and other local law enforcement responded just before two P-M to the residence and discovered multiple items of narcotics and paraphernalia. Two females at the scene were discovered to be in possession of many of the illegal items. Based on the investigation, 38 year-old Amanda Bonrud and 28-year old Abrea Rodda of Pierre were arrested and both charged with possession of a controlled drug or substance, ingestion of a controlled substance as a felony, distribution or manufacture of a controlled drug, ingestion of a substance to become intoxicated, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bonrud was also charged with possession of marijuana while Rodda was charged with maintaining a place where drugs are kept, sold or used. Both women were transported to the Hughes County Jail. It marks the seventh drug related arrest in Pierre since last weekend.
