(KCCR) — The Pierre School District has announced that free meals for District students will continue until closer to the end of the current school year. School Nutrition Director Liz Marso says the program will continue until May 21st of next year. Both meals for breakfast and lunch are included and will be free for all enrolled Pierre School District Students, just as the program currently has. Extra food can be purchased separately from the free meals. The program is offered to qualifying school districts through the U-S Agriculture Department. It was set to run until the program used up available funding but has now been extended to May of 2021 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
