The Pierre School District and the Stanley County School District have announced they will be hosting a double header football game on Saturday, August 31 at Hollister Field in Pierre.
Stanley County will play Chamberlain at 4:00, and Pierre will play Sturgis at 7:00.
Athletic Directors for both schools have been working on bringing back the double header game for a couple of years and hope the fans of both schools will come out and support the student-athletes of both communities.
Before, both schools would play and be called the “Oahe Bowl.” However, that’s not what they are wanting to do with this. According to Kelcy Nash, Stanley County Activities Director, the want to bring both schools together so Pierre and Stanley County communities can see athletes from both teams participate. With Stanley County being 11B and Pierre 11AA, outside of Week Zero and Stanley County’s Open Week, the only other time that Pierre and Stanley County could potentially watch the other play would be at the State Championship game.
Activity passes will be accepted for both schools, or ticket prices will be $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for students.
