Pierre Swim Team Competes in State B Championships

Twenty eight swimmers from the Pierre Swim Team (PST) competed at the State B Championship this past weekend in Watertown.  Many swimmers had personal best times with several top ten finishes allowing the team to win the percentage award.

In the girls 8 and under division, Lily Reitzel swam 4 personal best times and a 4th place finish in the 25 freestyle.  Avery Lisburg finished 7th in the 200 freestyle.  Breana Schaefbauer swam 5 personal best times.  On the boys side Trey Linn had 3 personal best times and 2 state qualifying swims in the 200 freestyle and 25 breaststroke.  Peter Hodges swam 3 personal best times.

In the girls 9-10 division, Ava Lavinger swam 7 personal best times and 2 state qualifying swims with a 1st place finish in the 50 fly and 100 fly.

In the boys 9-10 division, Christopher Jensen had 3 personal best times and a 9th place finish in the 100 breaststroke.  Jonas Olson swam 4 personal best times and 1 state qualifying swim with a second place finish in the 50 freestyle.  Rylon Schaefbauer had 5 personal best times and 1 state qualifying time in the 50 freestyle.

In the girls 11-12 division, Jaycee Bauer had a top finish of 12th in the 200 freestyle. Mason Berg’s top finish was 5th place in the 500 yard freestyle and swam 3 personal best times.  Avery Lisburg swam 7 personal best times with a 4th place finish in the 500 freestyle.

For the boys 11-12, Colton Cass had a first place finish in the 500 yard freestyle qualifying for the state meet and swam 6 personal best times.  Kelan Harris swam 3 personal best times and a state meet qualifying swim with a 1st place finish in the 200 IM.  Nathanial Jensen’s top finish was 9th in the 100 yard breaststroke. Alex Schaefbauer had 2 personal best swims and two 8th place finishes in the 50 and 100 yard breaststroke. Seth Shoup swam 5 personal best times with a 3rd place finish in the 100 and 500 yard freestyle.

In the girls 13-14 division, Karly Harris had one state meet qualifying swim with a 2nd place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke.  Morgan Lisburg swam 6 personal best times and two state meet qualifying swims with 1st place in the 1000 freestyle and 2nd in the 400 IM.  Emma Reitzel swam two personal best itmes with a top finish of 10th in the 500 freestyle.  Kendra Rounds had 4 personal best times and 4 state qualifying swims with 1st in the 200 and 500 yard freestyle along with 2nd in the 100 butterfly and 200 IM.  Avery Vanden Bos had a top finish of 2nd in the 200 yard breaststroke.

In the boys 13-14 division, Arthur Hodges swam 6 personal best times qualifying for the state meet in the 100 butterfly.

For the girls 15-16 division, Katelyn Harris swam to 1st place in the 200 and 500 freestyle, and the 100 butterfly, along with a 2nd place finish in the 1000 freestyle.  Hannah Schochenmaier swam 3 personal best times with a 3rd place finish in the 200 freestyle and 4th in the 200 IM. Savannah Shrake swam 2 personal best times qualifying for the state meet with two 2nd place finishes in the 200 and 1650 yard freestyle.

In the boys 15-16 division, William Hodges swam 3 personal best times and 4 state qualifying swims with 1st place in the 500 and 1000 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, and 200 butterfly.

For the boys 17-19 division, Senior Adam Schochenmaier had 7 state qualifying swims with 1st place finishes in the 50, 200, and 500 freestyle and 200 yard breaststroke along with 2nd place finishes in the 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, and 100 butterfly.

The final meet of the winter season for the Pierre Swim Team will be this coming weekend at the SD State A Short Course Championship March 1-3 in Sioux Falls.
