Four Pierre Swim Team athletes competed at the Central Zone Speedo Sectionals in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin this past weekend. Caleb Huizenga, Nick Loe, Morgan Nelson, Ella Ward-Zeller and head coach Kent Huckins represented PST at the four-day, long course meet. All four athletes swam personal best times throughout the weekend.
Caleb Huizenga competed in the 100 meter butterfly, and 50 and 100 meter freestyle events. In the 100 meter butterfly, Huizenga swam a 1:06.75, placing 77 out of 99 athletes. In the 50 meter freestyle, he swam a 25.55, placing 15th out of 104 athletes. Huizenga also swam well in the 100 meter freestyle finals, finishing with a time of 56.16, placing 31st out of 118.
Nick Loe competed in the 100 and 200 meter breaststroke. Loe placed 26th in the 100 meter breaststroke finals with his time of 1:12.29. In the 200 meter breaststroke, Loe placed 43rd with his time of 2:52.04.
Morgan Nelson competed in the 50 meter freestyle, and the 100 and 200 meter breaststroke events. She placed 102nd in the 50 meter freestyle with a time of 30.10. Nelson’s swim of 1:21.34 in the 100 meter breaststroke earned her 52nd place out of 111. She placed 84th in the 200 meter breaststroke with a time of 3:08.85.
Ella Ward-Zeller also had a great weekend of swimming. In the 200 meter individual medley, Ward-Zeller placed 46 out of 123 with her time of 2:34.28. She placed 38th in the 100 meter butterfly finals with her time of 1:08.06. Ward-Zeller also swam the finals in the 200 meter backstroke, placing 23rd out of 128 with her time of 2:28.81.
