The Pierre Governors wrapped up their year with three singles competitors making it to day two along with two doubles competitors.
In Flight three, Jocelyn Corrales started the day in the consolation semifinals against Lilly Wolff from Madison. Corrales won 10-6 over Wolff to advance to the fifth place match. However, Hattie Mullenbach from Milbank picked up the 10-4 win over Corrales as she finished in sixth place.
In flight five, Caitlin Ott opened up her day with a 10-2 win over AnnaClaire Rubish from Huron to find herself in the fifth place match as well against Rapid City Christian’s Hannah Beckloff, who defeated Ott in the first round of the tournament. Unfortunately for Ott, she was unable to extract revenge and finished in sixth place.
In flight six, Gracie Zeeb had no problem with Bianca Medina from Huron to advance to the fifth place match against Alexis Ninneman from Milbank. The number five seed in the flight couldn’t finish against Ninneman and fell in the fifth place match to finish in sixth.
In the second doubles flight, the team of Kara Weiss and Sydney Tedrow picked up a 10-4 win in their first match of the day to push them into the fifth place match but again could not get the fifth place win and fell to Rapid City Christian.
The team of Corrales and Ott competed in the championship semifinals in their first match of the day but fell in straight sets to the number seven seed, Yankton to fall to the third place match. There, they faced the top seed Mitchell and couldn’t knock off the Kernel team but still finished the best for the Govs in fourth place.
Overall the Governors took eighth place in the state tournament while Mitchell won the team championship by eight points over Yankton.
