Pierre To Kick Off Construction Season Monday With Work On Harrison And Park

The City of Pierre is kicking the 2018 road construction season off Monday. At least two projects will begin April 23rd. Weather permitting; the intersection of Park Street and Buchanan Avenue will close just after eight A-M for storm sewer repair work. The intersection is expected to be closed through the week, reopening on Friday, April 27rd. Park Street will see storm sewer work throughout the year. The entire street between Grant and Pierce Avenues will be reconstructed. That includes new curb, gutter, road base and street surfacing. Harrison Avenue will also go under the knife. Harrison will be shuttered to traffic from North Tyler Avenue to Hilltop Drive starting at eight AM Monday. Like Park Street, it is expected to be closed until Friday, April 27th for water main replacement. Harrison, between North Tyler and Sunset Drive will be rebuilt this year including new curb, gutter, road base and surfacing. Harrison Avenue will be resurfaced in 2018 between Sunset Drive and North Taylor Avenue. The City of Pierre is budgeting over two-million dollars for street work in 2018. There are 80 miles of streets maintained by the city.
