The Pierre Trappers used a dominating performance from Ethan Skuija and Zach Blake to combine for a shutout victory of the Badlands Big Sticks 6-0 to take the first two games of the series.
Spencer Sarringar led all players with three hits on the day including the only extra base hit with a double, while Zane Phelps recorded two hits. Recent graduate Pierre graduate, Andrew Coverdale went 1-4 in his Trappers debut scoring a run. The Trappers were flawless defensively in the game with Skuija allowing three hits and two walks while striking out 10 hitters. Blake finished the final three innings allowing just three base runners and striking out two.
The Trappers will go for the sweep of the Big Sticks on Thursday before Hastings comes to Pierre for the final weekend of the season. The Trappers and Big Sticks will play a final two game series Tuesday and Wednesday next week.
