Pierre Trappers Split Doubleheader

The Pierre Trappers split a doubleheader on Tuesday night with the Fremont Moo while the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs defeated the Hub City Hot Shots to tie the playoff race heading into the off day today.

In game one of the doubleheader, the Trappers used a dominating performance from AJ Fell who was throwing in his final game with Pierre as he went the distance in the seven inning contest allowed just the one run on four hits and collecting four strike outs in the 3-1 win. The Trappers scored runs in the first, third and fifth on two singles and an error.

In the second game, things go quite as smooth for the Trappers as they lost in nine innings of the seven inning game 7-6. Just like the night before, the Trappers had to tie it up in their final at bat when Johnny Pacheco doubled in the tying run to send the ball game into extra frames. In the top of the ninth inning, the Moo were able to take an advantage of an error and a sacrifice fly to score the go ahead run and the Trappers were unable to answer.

For Fell, in the first game, he was happy with his performance in his final game in a place he grew to love in Pierre…

For Coach Tanner Neale, this loss hurts, especially late in the season…

Now, the season comes down to the Souris Valley series which begins Thursday, and for Neale, the sour taste of this loss has to leave quickly…

The Trappers and Sabre Dogs will play Thursday through Sunday in four of the last five final games of the season for the Trappers. First pitch tomorrow will be at 7:05 on Capital City Rock and capitalcityrock.com.
