Pierre Trappers Win Opening Series Game over Badlands

The Pierre Trappers took the first game of a four game set against the Badlands Big Sticks with a 7-6 on Thursday.

The Trappers were down 2-0 out of the gates in the top of the first inning but three separate hits in the bottom of the fourth inning gave the Trappers a 3-2 lead. After Badlands tied the game with a home run in the top of sixth, the Trappers responded with another four runs in the bottom half of the inning. Six different players drove in runs for the Trappers as Nick Modeste had two RBI. Zane Phelps drove in his 44th RBI in the third inning.

Billy Moreland picked up the two inning save but not before a two run home run in the top of the ninth made things a bit more interesting. Yet, for Coach Tanner Neale, he wasn’t too concerned because Moreland has been there before…

The injury bug, along with pitchers hitting their innings limit, the Trappers are struggling to keep a full roster right now which Neale continues to see as a positive for other players…

But overall, according to Neale, this win, like last night’s, continues to set a trend…

The Trappers will face the Big Sticks again tonight at 7:05 and will finish out the weekend series on Sunday before the All Star break Monday through Wednesday. You can listen to all three games this weekend on Capital City Rock and capitalcityrock.com.
