Pierre Woman Pleads Guilty To Grand Theft Charge In Stanley County

(KCCR) — A Pierre woman has changed her plea in a Grand Theft case in Stanley County. Stanley County States Attorney Tom Maher says during a change-of-plea hearing in Fort Pierre, 63 year-old Diana Peterson pleaded guilty Tuesday to a single Grand Theft Embezzlement charge. Maher says Peterson admitted to stealing approximately 33-hundred dollars from her employer. Peterson stole cash in various amounts from cash registers and video lottery funds at the Cowboy Country Store in Fort Pierre over the course of many months. Because of the amount of money Peterson admitted to stealing, she is facing a maximum of five years in prison and/or a 10-thousand dollar fine. Peterson asked for a suspended imposition of sentence. Judge Patricia DeVaney withheld a finding of guilt and ordered a presentence investigation. Sentencing for Peterson is set for April 23rd.
