Post 8 Baseball Slams Two Wins in Brandon

A couple of grand slams propelled Pierre Post 8 into two wins on Tuesday as they beat Yankton 6-1 and Sioux Falls East 8-1 in a doubleheader in Brandon.

Jack Van Camp was dominate on the mound in game one as he struck out 14 men giving up just one run on three hits. Van Camp struck out the side in order three times in the game as he picked up his second complete game win in as many starts. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Post 8 scored two runs to finally break through and hold a 2-1 lead after Andy Gordon drove in Garrett Stout with a double. Matt Lusk hit a grand slam to open up the 6-1 lead and seal the win for Pierre in game one.

Post 8 scored first in game two in the top of the first inning and lead 2-1 after four complete as Grey Zabel picked up the win on the mound as he went five innings allowing just one run on two hits while Cobey Carr finished off the win without allowing a hit in the final two frames. Van Camp came through with the bat this time in game two as he hit a grand slam which opened up Pierre’s lead to 7-1.

Head Coach Brian White was thrilled with Van Camp’s performance all day…

White says those were big at bats for Van Camp and Lusk…

The rest of the week is all against North Dakota teams which will not count towards the seed points for the state tournament so wins and losses will not affect Post 8, but White doesn’t want to lose momentum…

Post 8 will host Mandan on Wednesday with a doubleheader starting at 5:30. Both games will be on Today’s KCCR and todayskccr.com with Jon Winkler on the call.
