Post 8 Falls in State Tournament Opener

Friday afternoon, Maguire Raske took to the mound for Post 8 looking for another solid start and win, but the first inning was shaky as the first three hitters reached for Renner and came around to score as the Royals beat the Eight’s 5-3.

After the 3-0 lead, Renner used solid pitching from Reece Arbogast as he went the distance for the Royals barely throwing over 80 pitches. Post 8 left five guys on base and had two errors in the ballgame.

Cade Hinkle got Post 8 on the board with a two out RBI double to make it 3-1. After two more runs scored on a two out two RBI single after a diving attempt from Cobey Carr just came up short, the Royals looked to be in control through the end of the game.

However, a seventh inning stand from Post 8 brought them back within two and had the tying run on at first base, but a pop up from Grey Zabel ended the ball game and the Royals advanced to the second round.

Post 8 will face the loser of the Harrisburg/Mitchell contest tomorrow around 12:00 in an elimination game as Post 8 will now have to play with their backs against the wall in hopes to rally all the way back to win the state championship.
