In a season delayed until the first weekend of June, Post 8 still played 43 regular season games going 27-16 and took a 19-8 record against South Dakota Class A teams and finished as the number four seed in the state. It means Pierre has guaranteed themselves to play at home through the first two rounds of the playoffs.
It begins tonight as the Eights will welcome Yankton into town. The two teams met back on June 23 in Brandon as Pierre knocked off Yankton in a 6-1 win. Jack Van Camp had 14 strike outs in the complete game effort allowing the lone run on three hits. Matt Lusk hit his first career grand slam in the bottom of the sixth to secure the win for the Eights.
The Eights and Yankton begin the doubleheader at 5:00 tonight from Hyde Stadium. Pregame begins at 4:45. If the two teams split tonight, Pierre and Yankton will play on Wednesday in winner-take-all game three to advance to the Super Regional next Tuesday.
