After successfully defeating Harrisburg to survive and advance Saturday afternoon, Post 8 was unable to comeback against Brandon Valley and lost 8-4 to end the season.
Grey Zabel was dominate on Saturday with a complete game, three hit shutout to keep Pierre in the state tournament for another day. Post 8 took advantage of two Harrisburg errors resulting in the two runs scoring and defeated the Tigers 2-0.
Sunday was a different story. After two scoreless frames, Brandon Valley was able to bat around in the third scoring four times on four hits in the inning and an error from Pierre to open up the scoring and pull to a 4-0 lead. Andrew Coverdale brought home the first run of the game with an RBI single in the fourth but two more runs came to score for Brandon Valley to drive the lead to 6-1. A three run inning for Post 8 pulled them within two but unfortunately for the team from Pierre, that’s all the runs they would score while the Lynx tacked on another two and the season came to an end for Post 8.
Pierre finishes with a record of 21-21 on the year, and in the top six of the state.
