“Represent South Dakota” To Watch Proposed Legislation Close

South Dakota legislators will debate a bill next session that would set up a citizen review commission to hold public hearings on any issue placed on the ballot by petition. That would include initiatives and constitutional amendments.   Doug Kronaizl with “Represent South Dakota” says they will watch the progress of that bill…

Kronaizl’s group placed IM22 on the ballot last year, and have submitted petitions for a constitutional amendment to be put on next year’s ballot.
He says their new amendment has more protections to stop the legislature from overriding initiatives, as they did earlier this year…

Kronaizl says they are not opposed to the review commission right now…..

After holding those hearings, the review commission would produce “an objective written summary” of each ballot issue.
