Riverfront Broadcasting News Wins First Place For Best Newscast In The Great Plains

The Associated Press has recognized Riverfront Broadcasting News for excellence in broadcast journalism. KCCR Radio has won first place in the Newscast category in the 2017 Great Plains Broadcast Contest. The newscast submitted for judging by AP member stations across the county was from October 20th of 2017 and included an award-winning story on the funeral of Presho Fire Chief Don Manger. The same newscast also won an Award of Merit Eric Sevareid award last month from the Midwest Broadcast Journalists Association. Second place was awarded to KFOR-AM in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Great Plains Broadcast Contest is open to AP member radio and television stations in South Dakota, North Dakota and Nebraska.
