SDSU Football Players Named To All-American Team

WACO, Texas – Three South Dakota State University football players, including two of the top receivers in program history, were named Wednesday to the 2017 America Football Coaches Association Football Championship Subdivision All-America Team.

Pacing the Jackrabbit contingent was senior tight end Dallas Goedert, who repeated as a first-team selection. During the recently completed 2017 season, Goedert finished as the team leader with 72 receptions and 1,111 receiving yards, while adding seven touchdown catches.

Senior wide receiver Jake Wieneke earned second-team recognition after tallying 65 receptions for 965 yards and tying his own school record with 16 touchdown catches. A four-time All-America honoree, the Maple Grove, Minnesota, native finished his career second in FCS history with 59 touchdown receptions and third in receiving yards with 5,157.

Also earning second-team honors from the AFCA was sophomore linebacker Christian Rozeboom. The Sioux Center, Iowa, native registered a team-best 127 tackles, including 7.5 tackles for loss and a sack.
