Playing in a charity matchup to raise awareness and financial support for hurricane relief efforts nationwide, the Jackrabbits shot 42.2 percent in the game and forced 19 Hardrocker turnovers.
Mike Daum led the way with a 21-point, 11-rebound double-double. He was joined in double figures by Skyler Flatten and David Jenkins Jr., who each had 16 points. Flatten hit 5-of-6 at the charity stripe and Jenkins Jr. drilled four 3-pointers. Tevin King grabbed seven boards and dished out three assists.
Down two at the break after a hot-shooting South Dakota Mines squad hit five first-half 3-pointers, State responded by outscoring the Hardrockers by 15 in the final frame to secure the win. The turning point came near the 14-minute mark of the second half, when down 42-41 the Jackrabbits went on a 9-0 run to create breathing room.
The advantage reached double digits moments later, and the largest lead of the night came at 2:29 when Jenkins Jr. buried a 3-pointer from the corner to put SDSU up 78-59.
