Stanley County Football Falls in Home Finale, Moves up to 12 Seed in 11B Playoffs

The Stanley County Football team has finished the brutal regular season and unfortunately couldn’t quite pull off the upset against a good St. Thomas More team. The Buffaloes held the Cavaliers to just seven points through the first three quarters of the ballgame but fell 24-8 as they end the season at 3-5. However, the tough schedule pays dividends as the 3-5 Buffaloes moved up to the 12 seed in Class 11B and will compete in the playoffs next week Thursday against a familiar foe in McCook Central/Montrose.

The Fighting Cougars ended the regular season with a 7-1 record and are the number five seed and will host the Buffs on Thursday. Back in week two the Fighting Cougars won 52-14 over the Buffaloes. The Buffs will need a lot for the upset, but playing a team they’ve already seen will help in the prep for McCook Central/Montrose.

Jon Winkler will talk with Head Coach Max Foth on Wednesday on Coach’s Corner from Gator’s Pizza.
