(WNAX) — The South Dakota Department of Agriculture has labeled several herbicides (Engenia, Fexapan, and Xtendimax) for postemergence use on Xtend dicamba tolerant soybeans for the 2018 growing season. SDSU Extension Weed Science Coordinator Paul Johnson says there are several changes to the label over last year. The most important involve application restrictions related to weather and adjacent crops.
He says it’s critical that producers clean their sprayers thoroughly before applying dicamba to avoid any contamination.
Johnson says the state label rules follow federal guidelines which made dicamba a restricted use herbicide.
Johnson says farmers can view the 24 application recommendations at SDSU’s I-Grow website.
