A pair of Pierre residents were arrested Thursday for taking a car from Fort Pierre. Officers received the stolen car report just before three PM. Police got reports the stolen vehicle was in the 500 block of South Garfield Avenue. Upon arrival to that address, officers discovered the vehicle had just left. Other responding officers picked up the vehicle traveling west on Wells Avenue and stopped the car near Wells and Washington. Two occupants in the car were detained as officers began to investigate. That investigation led to the discovery of drugs and drug paraphernalia, both on the suspects and in the car. The driver, 20 year-old Meranda Boe was arrested on charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, driving while suspended possession of a controlled drug or substance, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. The passenger, 39 year-old Jason West was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled drug or substance, ingestion of a controlled drug or substance as a felony, ingestion of a controlled drug or substance to become intoxicated and possession of paraphernalia. Both Boe and West were taken to the Hughes County Jail. Assisting agencies included the South Dakota Highway Patrol and Hughes County Sheriff.
