The Sully Buttes Charger girls and boys traveled to Selby Tuesday night, and came away with big road wins against Region 2B opponent Herreid Selby Area.
The Charger girls kept Herreid Selby Area at arm’s length throughout the game, and came away with a 48-36 victory. The Chargers were led in scoring once again by Rachel Guthmiller, who ended the night with 23 points, while junior Lauren Wittler added 13, and Marinda Archer finishing with eight points. The Charger girls now have a record of 15-1 on the season, with big games in the next nine days against fellow region opponents Ipswich—Friday—and Faulkton Area—next Thursday. The Wolverines were led by Charlie Tisdalls’ 19 points, and their team record slips to 7-10.
The Sully Buttes boys trailed at the end of the first quarter by a score of 10-8, and then put it in gear to roar past Herreid Selby Area—outscoring the Wolverines 64-25 in the next three quarters en route to a 72-35 victory. The Charger boys were the first seed in Region 2B going into the game at 13-1, while HSA was second at 16-1. The Charger boys—now 14-1 will be joining the girls for yet another doubleheader Friday in Ipswich. Lincoln Jordre ended the night with 23 points, while Nick Wittler added 15, and Jacob Howard with ten points. For HSA, Trevor Begeman ended the night with 16, and Emmit Bohle added seven points.
