The Sully Buttes Charger boys started out 2018 better than they finished 2017 on the court—leading the entire way over Highmore Harrold, and notching a 86-63 win in Onida.
After a strong start in the first quarter-with Sully Buttes leading 20-9, the Chargers used their low post presence to establish and keep the lead. Jacob Howard and Lincoln Jordre each scored 19 points, while Nick Wittler added 14 points, and Devan Kleven finished with eleven for the Chargers. Sully Buttes also had eight three point baskets on the night.
The young Highmore Harrold team refused to back down, attacking the basket, and effectively passing the ball, but the scoring hole was too big to overcome. The Pirates also had four players score in double figures; Dylan McDonnell had 23, Jharrett Bloomenrader scored 15, with Treymaine Eagle Thunder-Alger adding twelve, and Remington Paynter contributing ten.
The Chargers are now 4-1 on the year, while Highmore Harrolds’ record falls to 2-4. Next up for the Charger boys is a doubleheader Saturday in Onida against James Valley Christian. Highmore Harrold hosts Faulkton Tuesday.
