Sully Buttes Football Season Ends on a Losing Note

The Sully Buttes Chargers more than had their hands full Friday night, as they hosted defending Class 9A champion Canistota/Freeman, and the Pride made them pay.  The Chargers were defeated 56-22 by Canistota/Freeman, and it marked the first time the senior starters lost a home game during their varsity careers.

Canistota/Freeman outgunned Sully Buttes in the ground game, racking up a total of 387 yards on the ground, and added 142 through the air, for a total of 529 total yards.

Sully Buttes kept it close—at least in that department, by going 189 yards on the ground and 170 receiving yards, for a total of 359 yards offensively.

The big difference was the Pride’s outside speed, and the Chargers turning the ball over a total of four times. With two fumbles and two interceptions. Canistota/ Freeman added to their total scores three of the four times from the Chargers miscues.

Head Coach Mark Senftner thought they moved the ball well in the game…

Senftner spoke about the seniors and the leadership they had on this team…

Sully Buttes ends the season with a record of 10-1, while Canistota/Freeman ups its’ mark to 10-1.  The Pride will play Britton Hecla Thursday morning at 11AM at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium at South Dakota State University.
