Tuesday night the Sully Buttes Chargers girls basketball team came away with a 61-38 victory over a young, scrappy Highmore Harrold squad in Onida.
The Chargers led 12-11 after the first quarter, and 30-20 at the half, and kept up the pace for the second half, outscoring the Pirates 31-18 to close it out.
Senior Lauren Wittler was once again the leading scorer, finishing with 22 points on the night. Kendra Kleven added 13, and helped the Chargers improve to 12-8 on the season.
For Highmore Harrold, Oakley Jandreau led the way with ten points, while Kassie Hale added seven. The injury depleted Pirates finished the year at 9-12.
Next up for the Chargers is a road trip to Ipswich, to take on the top ranked Tigers in Region 2B. Ipswich defeated Potter County 67-46 in Ipswich. On the other side of the bracket, Herreid Selby Area-the second seed-knocked off Eureka Bowdle 56-37, and will host Faulkton Area, a 61-25 winner over Edmunds Central in Faulkton Tuesday night.
