MITCHELL, S.D. (TodaysKCCR.com) — Despite fifteen turnovers, the Sully Buttes Charger girls held on to pick up a victory over the host team Hanson at the Hanson Classic by a final of 42-40 Saturday night at the Corn Palace in Mitchell.
The Chargers trailed 19-18 at the half, but went on a 13-6 run in the third quarter, and held the Beaverettes to a desperation shot near the buzzer that fell short. The Chargers scored with 1:25 left in the game to take the lead, and leading the way scoring was Lauren Wittler—finishing with sixteen points, while Rachel Guthmiller added twelve.
Hanson falls to 7-3 on the season. Next up for the undefeated Chargers—now 8-0—is a girls boys doubleheader Tuesday in Timber Lake. You will be able to hear both games on Country 95.3 and PierreCountry.com.
