After playing to an 11-11 tie at the end of the first quarter, the Sully Buttes Charger girls broke open the game and outscored the Lyman Raiders 18-4 in the second stanza, en route to a 58-39 victory Thursday night at the Lyman Gardens in Presho.
Lauren Wittler led the way offensively—scoring 27 points, while the Chargers shut down the Raiders low post play with tight defense, and the Chargers kept the cushion throughout the second half, to push their record to 3-1 on the year.
Lyman was playing their seventh game of the young season, and will now be off until January 3rd. The Raiders record drops to 5-2.
The Chargers will be back in action next Saturday, as they’re once again playing in the Parkston Classic. The Chargers will play the host team, the Parkston Trojans, with the scheduled tipoff at 6PM on December 29th. The Sully Buttes boys team will also be at the Parkston Classic, playing Canistota Friday, December 28th, with a 4:30 scheduled tip.
