Pressure defense, driving to the hoop, and hitting the open player with passes all added up to a winning combination for the Sully Buttes Charger girls, as they defeated Philip 67-39 Monday night in Onida.
Lauren Wittler had success in the low post, scoring 23 points, while Rachel Guthmiller controlled the backcourt, and finished with 21, that also included going 9 of 11 from the free throw line. All five Charger starters scored, and the continuous clock was initiated to start the fourth quarter.
Leading the way for the Lady Scotties was Cappie West, who ended the night with nine points. The Lady Scotties are now 7-5 on the season.
The Chargers busy week continues with a girls/boys game in Tulare against the Hitchcock Tulare Patriots. Then, the Charger girls and boys are in Warner, to take on the talented Warner Monarchs. You can catch those games on Country 95.3FM, and pierrecountry.com, with DT Meyer making the call.
