Sully Buttes Opens Up State Tournament Tonight

The Sully Buttes Chargers are in familiar territory. The defending state champions will compete in the state tournament starting tonight looking to defend the title. The opponent, the team they beat in the state championship last year, Clark/Willow Lake. Sully Buttes had to wait until last Thursday to advance to the state tournament after their game was postponed with Lemmon. The Chargers knocked off the Cowboys 66-53 to advance to tonight’s first round matchup. All eight top seeds won their SoDak 16 contests which puts the Chargers as the sixth seed. Clark/Willow Lake had no problem in the SoDak 16 game, knocking off Dell Rapids St. Mary 66-33 last week Tuesday.

Both the Chargers and Cyclones beat Timber Lake during the season, but the Cyclones thumped the Panthers in the contest by 20 points while it took the Chargers overtime to knock them off.

You can listen to tonight’s game with game time scheduled for 7:45, the last game of the day, on Country 95.3 and with DT Meyer on the call.
