After a sluggish start, the Sully Buttes Chargers worked their way back into a tough, defensive victory over Highmore Harrold Tuesday night in Onida by the scores of 25-19, 25-18, 25-16. The Chargers used crisp passing and setting to edge the strong defensive effort by the Pirates, with Brooklyn Bradford leading the way in setting the Chargers offense for point shots.
Sully Buttes also was strong in serving, recording 14 aces. Leading the way in kills was Rachel Guthmiller and Lauren Wittler—each with twelve kills, while Marinda Archer added eight. For Highmore, Tya Flaaen(flown) contributed eight.
The Chargers—now 18-7—will face third seed Faulkton, a three set winner over Frederick Hecla Area. The game is Thursday night in Onida. First serve time is at 7PM, and will be covered on Country 95.3, with DT Meyer calling the play-by-play. The winner will be placed in the Sweet Sixteen format, matching records and power points.
Highmore Harrold finished their season with a 11-16 record.
