Tuesday night the Sully Buttes Chargers tried to stop a three game losing skid. They made improvements, but the end result was the same. The Chargers fell to the Ipswich Tigers by the final of 25-22, 25-21, and 25-21 in the Onida gym.
The Chargers showed strong defense and passing, but had trouble finishing points against a taller, veteran Ipswich club. While the scoring was balanced overall, Sully Buttes was led by senior Angela Guthmiller and freshman Allyson Wittler, each finishing with five kills.
Ipswich also had a balanced attack, but had late scoring rallies from the service position to help seal the victory.
With the loss, Sully Buttes drops to 2-5, while Ipswich’ record stands at 4-1. The Chargers will travel to Philip for an invite on Saturday. The next broadcast on Country 95.3FM will be next Thursday, September 19th at Presho, to take on the Lyman Raiders.
