Summer Baseball Getting Set for Play

From the outside looking in, South Dakota summer baseball has had a confusing past week. It went from a full legion season to no baseball at all back to a season again. However, from the inside, there was never a doubt that a season was going to be given the “go-ahead” for the state of South Dakota. Head Coach of the Pierre Post 8 baseball team, Brian White, was confident throughout the entire the process which was going to result in summer baseball in some fashion.

White says the Class A teams got together and decided for the postseason it will be more of a College World Series type with the first two rounds being played like the Super Regional…

White says they are trying to keep as few people at a place at one time…

Because of the guidelines in place and because different parts of the state have fewer cases of coronavirus, the season will begin at different times for everybody…

There will also be no minimum number of games a team has to play to be eligible for the postseason because of the situation but White says the middle of June is an expected start date for Pierre baseball…

Once the season begins, Today’s KCCR will have coverage of Pierre Summer Baseball throughout the season.
