In one of the bigger track meets of the year, a total of 19 schools brought athletes to compete at the Legion Relays yesterday afternoon in Pierre. For the Lady Governors, Mack Rath was at it again, winning the discus throw with a distance of 123-00 which was 15 better than second place. Rath also finished in second place in the shot put throw with a distance of 41-05 barely losing to Sioux Falls Washington’s Jenna Sayler who had a distance of 41-06.75.
For the boys, Jack Maher again remained in the top five in each of the shot put and discus throw placing second in the shot put behind Watertown’s Cooper Mack. Maher had a total distance of 50-09 while Mack won with a 52-00. Maher placed third in the discus throw behind Nick Olsen of Aberdeen Central and Sully Mack of Watertown. Maher finished with a distance of 143-09. Paul Adam finished in second in the boys high jump as he continues to impress in that category. He had a total height of 6-04 and lost in a jump off to Sharif Redd of Sioux Falls Washington.
For the boys, they finished in eighth place with a total of 33 points while Watertown took home first with totaling 130 points. The girls for Pierre scored 31 which also had them finishing in eighth place while Brandon Valley won scoring 98 points.
