Trappers Open Season Tonight

A month later than usual, the Pierre Trappers will begin their season tonight as they travel to Gering, Nebraska as they face the Western Nebraska Pioneers in the first weekend series of the year.

The Trappers return numerous players from the 2019 with several guys getting another chance to play baseball in 2021 for college. Only six teams will participate in the 2020 season in the Expedition League as the Trappers are the lone South Dakota team. They’re joined by the three Nebraska teams, the Pioneers, Freemont Moo and Hastings Sodbusters. The other two teams will be the Souris Valley Sabredogs and the Badlands Big Sticks out of North Dakota.

Head Coach Tanner Neale is excited for the opportunity to play this summer…

Neale says one of the hardest things this year will be keeping the players healthy during the pandemic…

And Neale says for this weekend, it’s about playing sound baseball…

The Trappers and Pioneers begin the season at 7:00 tonight from Gering.
