Truck Driver Cited Twice After Getting Semi Stuck Under Rail Crossing

(KCCR) — Pierre police have cited a Georgia truck driver with two citations after he lost a battle with the undefeated Pierre railroad viaduct Wednesday. Pierre Police Captain Bryan Walz says officers received a report of an 18-wheeler trying to pass under the 11 foot three-inch passage around 11:40 am. The investigation of crash found 58 year-old Gregory Coley of Griffin, Georgia was traveling south on Pierre Street and ignored the multiple over-height warnings and attempted to pass under the bridge anyway. That caused the truck to become wedged under the Rapid City, Pierre and Eastern roadway crossing. Police estimate damage to the semi and trailer at 16-thousand dollars. Coley was cited not only for a Truck Route Violation but for Driving Without a Commercial Driver’s License as well. A local company assisted with removal of the vehicle from under the bridge.
