Two Pierre residents have been arrested on drug and child abuse charges. Pierre Police Captain Jason Jones says officers responded to a disturbance call in the 1600 block of East Dakota Avenue on Monday around 11:30 A-M. An investigation by responding officers determined that a 26 year-old female had been assaulted. Officers observed multiple items of drug paraphernalia along with multiple indications that drug use had taken place at the residence. Following additional investigation of the incident, police arrested 30 year-old Gary Cudmore on a charge of Simple Assault-Domestic Violence. Twenty-six year-old Megan Ducheneaux was arrested for Maintaining a Place Where Drugs are Kept, Sold or Used. Cudmore and Ducheneaux are also charged with Ingestion of a Controlled Drug or Substance, Possession of a Controlled Drug or Substance, Possession or Use of Drug Paraphernalia and a charge of Abuse or Neglect of a Child. Jones says small children were present in the home when officers observed signs of drug use at the residence during the investigation.
