Two South Dakota Coaches Nominated For Coach Of The Year Honors

FARGO, N.D. (News Release) — Two South Dakota coaches have been named as finalists for the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Coach of the Year.

Groft, the head coach at Northwestern High School in Mellette, is a finalist for the volleyball award. Cogley, the head coach for Aberdeen Central, is a finalist for boys soccer.

According to a release from the NHSACA, candidates for the national coach of the year awards are nominated by each individual state’s coaches association. Selections are based on longevity, service to high school athletics, honors, championship years, and winning percentage.

The national award winners will be announced during the association’s national convention June 27 in Sioux Falls.
