White River Man Indicted By Federal Grand Jury On Assault Charges

(KCCR) — A White River man has been indicted by a federal grand jury for allegedly assaulting a man with an axe. U-S Attorney Ron Parsons says 33 year-old Anthony Black Wolf was indicted September on charges of Assault With a Dangerous Weapon and Assault Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury. Black Wolf pleaded not guilty to the Indictment charges Monday. The Indictment claims that Black Wolf was in Mellette County on January 12th of this year when he assaulted an individual with an axe with intent to do harm the victim. The assault resulted in serious bodily injuries to the victim. Black Wolf could face up to 10 years in federal prison and/or a 250-thousand dollar fine if convicted of the charges. Three years of probation and restitution may be included in any sentence. Black Wolf is currently in the custody of the U-S Marshals Service pending trial. A trial date has not been set.
