The Pierre City Commission is back on a regular schedule after last week’s blizzard moved their meeting to a Wednesday night. There are two items of special business to start the meeting. First is a proclamation declaring March as Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, followed by recognition of the Pierre Governor’s Championship Wrestling team. The consent calendar includes minutes from the March 7th meeting, claims and the promotion of Police Captain Jason Jones, to Chief. Commissioners will get an update from the Essential Air Service Contract Committee and will consider approval of two plats. A public hearing will be held at 5:45 PM for the city’s intent to apply for a Community Development Block Grant for the Boys and Girls Club Building project and comments regarding Pierre’s Community Development and Housing Needs Assessment plan. New business includes a street closure request for the Sioux Avenue Cruise Night June 9th, a change order for the Hilger’s Gulch lift station project and request to close city offices at noon on Good Friday, March 30th. There are no scheduled executive sessions. The Pierre City Commission meets tonight at the Pierre Municipal Building at 5:30 PM. The meeting is open to the public.
